A: A deductible health insurance plan requires the policyholder to pay a specified amount towards their own medical expenses or claim from the existing welfare or another health insurance they have. If the treatment costs exceed the deductible amount specified in the policy, before the insurance company will covers costs exceeding that amount as stated in the policy. For example, if your health insurance has a deductible of 30,000 Baht and you receive treatment costing 30,000 Baht, you would need to pay from your own funds or other existing benefits first. If the treatment costs 50,000 Baht, you would pay or use existing benefits up to 30,000 Baht, and the insurance company would cover the remaining 20,000 Baht.
E-Health Add up helps cover extra treatment cost from existing benefits with an affordable annual premium. Here are the deductible conditions:
Scenario 1 : If admitted for the same illness within 90 days, the deductible amount accumulates with previous treatments. For instance, if hospitalized for an infection from February 10 to February 17, then again on May 5 with the same infection, the policyholder pays the deductible twice within the 30,000 Baht limit.
Scenario 2 : If hospitalized again for the same illness after 90 days, the deductible applies separately. For example, hospitalized for Influenza from May 28 to June 1, then again on September 11 with Influenza, the policyholder pays the 30,000 Baht deductible twice, separately.
